Response to Miss Medicina's Healer Questionnaire
tree form plain
This is in response to the Miss Medicina's post.

Post this questionnaire, with your answers, on your blog
. Pick the healing class you know most about (or is the focus of your blog) for the questionnaire, and then send it over to another healing blogger you know and love who heals with a DIFFERENT class. Include a link to the blogger who sent you the questionnaire, as well as a link to the blogger to whom you are sending it.

  • What is the name, class, and spec of your primary healer? Dysmorphia, Restoration Druid
  • What is your primary group healing environment? (i.e. raids, pvp, 5 mans) Raiding 25 mans and 10 mans.
  • What is your favorite healing spell for your class and why? Rejuvenation, if I must choose one. You can cover a raid with it. You can Swiftmend it if things go bad. You can even give a slight boost to DPS with Revitalize.
  • What healing spell do you use least for your class and why? Tranquility. Although I use all of my spells, Tranquility is a channeled spell (so I can't be on the move) and is only party wide. That makes it pretty inappropriate for 25 man raids.
  • What do you feel is the biggest strength of your healing class and why? Mobility and mana efficiency.
  • What do you feel is the biggest weakness of your healing class and why? Lack of big burst healing. But I'm OK with that because that's not what we are for.
  • In a 25 man raiding environment, what do you feel, in general, is the best healing assignment for you? Raid healing while keeping a foundation of HoTs on the tank(s) to support a paladin.
  • What healing class do you enjoy healing with most and why? Paladins. Paladins are strongest where druids are weakest (burst, single target) and druids are strongest where paladins are weakest (ticking damage, many targets, mobility) so we complement each other perfectly.
  • What healing class do you enjoy healing with least and why? Holy priests who aren't used to druids. They freak out, heal over my HoTs, go oom, and then demand my Innervate.
  • What is your worst habit as a healer? I clip my HoTs when I get freaked out.
  • What is your biggest pet peeve in a group environment while healing? Anyone ever saying they need heals. This goes double if they are DPS. Triple if they are out of range of me.
  • Do you feel that your class/spec is well balanced with other healers for PvE healing? I suspect we are a little bit overpowered.
  • What tools do you use to evaluate your own performance as a healer? The most obvious are did my targets live and did I avoid avoidable damage myself. I use various log parses and check what spells I used, and who my targets were. I have ideas about what my spell breakdown should be, and if the parse shows I deviated dramatically from it, I check.
  • What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about your healing class? That our Innervate is there to be given away to someone else.
  • What do you feel is the most difficult thing for new healers of your class to learn? To apply HoTs before there is any damage and then to trust the HoTs to tick.
  • If someone were to try to evaluate your performance as a healer via recount, what sort of patterns would they see (i.e. lots of overhealing, low healing output, etc)? It would depend dramatically on the fight and on my assignment. If I were on raid healing they'd probably see insane HPS and rather high overheal. If I were more on a tank while supporting a paladin or disc priest, my effective healing might be quite low, as my HOTs mostly serve to even out the damage. On any fight with pulsing/ticking damage, they would probably think I'm overpowered--and on those kinds of fights, yes, druids are beastly.
  • Haste or Crit and why? Haste. Keeping a 1 second GCD is important, and with the GoTEM coming in 3.3, I'm already collecting gear with the new haste requirement in mind. Crit is the flavor of the month with 4-T9, but I refuse to stack it. Once at the soft haste cap for resto druids though, I mildly prefer Crit given 4-T9, but T9 isn't for ever.
  • What healing class do you feel you understand least? Resto shamans.
  • What add-ons or macros do you use, if any, to aid you in healing? Grid, Clique, mouse-over macros, Mik's Scrolling Battle Text
  • Do you strive primarily for balance between your healing stats, or do you stack some much higher than others, and why? I stack spellpower over all other stats.
I don't know any healing bloggers who heal with a different class, so no passing it on for me, I guess.
